Since a long time, the following story is shared in Kenya:
There was a leopard that was hungry and so it made the plan to go to
hunt a gazelle that day. It was on the scout and after some time
waiting, when a gazelle came close it started chasing it. While the
leopard was chasing the gazelle, a fox crossed over. So the leopard
changed its mind and decided: “Why not adapting my plan and chasing
the fox instead? It might be easier and a fox is a nice meal as well.”
So the leopard was chasing the fox now.
While chasing the fox, a rabbit crossed over. So the leopard changed
its mind and decided: “Why not chasing the rabbit instead of the fox?
It might be easier and a rabbit is also a nice meal.”
While chasing the rabbit, a mouse crossed over. So the leopard changed
its mind and decided: “Why not chasing the mouse instead? It might be
easier and a mouse is also tasty.”
The leopard constantly changed its mind, as soon as something else was
crossing its way. It was starting with a certain plan but was changing
it according to the current moods. So, when the leopard decided to go
for the fox, the fox might have been a tangible target. But the fox
was fresh, and the leopard was already strained. The rabbit was fresh,
the leopard was already tired. And before the leopard could reach the
mouse, the mouse was disappearing in its hole in the ground and the
leopard was left behind with nothing.
